| FINALLY bought bridge over troubled water (simon & garfunkel) and was listening to it all the way through for the first time. i couldn't help it, but i just kept grinning and giggling at the most random times, for no apparent reason. just the joy of simon & garfunkel i guess...

| so on tuesday i subbed for a science teacher that only teaches 3 classes, not the normal 5. it was nice, because i got to sleep in, but a bummer because that means she doesn't have her own classroom, just migrates from period to period. during her first class, we were in one of those class/lab rooms with desks and whiteboards in half the room and lab stations in the other half. over in the lab half of the room i notice a poster that has a picture of a girl wearing huge sunglasses and holding one of those canes blind people use. next to the picture of the girl it says: mary never used to wear her safety goggles. now, she doesn't need them anymore.
hahaha way to scare all children into wearing their goggles!

| so i've been here for almost two weeks and it's been busy busy. but so fun!
first was two meetings kerri dragged me too while i was all jetlagged the first day i arrived. then, we left for youth camp, in the ardeche, the "adventuring" region of france. every day was full of a different, tiring activity. we went canyoning, caving, accrobranching (aka a ropes course) and canoeing. highlights: canyoning in freezing cold water with a french guide that hated us even before i told him i didn't understand french very well, waist-high water in the cave from the thunderstorm the night before, having to wiggle out of a birth canal of rocks to get out of the cave, canoeing for two days straight and our canoe tipping at the most illogical place on the river. and of course, the kids. they're amazing. too much to tell here, though i want to share. aka please ask ;)
after that tiring week, we had one day to rest before the next camp started; kid's camp, just like good old american vbs. it's western theme so i get to wear a cowboy hat everyday. and listen to counrty music. and say yeehaw and ya'll every few sentences. that ends on friday, and tomorrow is water day, whatever that means.
the other most exciting thing about being in france (besides the obvious sister and france stuff) is the fact that it's july. and july in france means one thing: the soldes. basically, stores never have sales during the year. but every july, for the entire month, every store has huge sales. like, 30-70% off sales. it's amazing. so if you want to come to france, make sure you come in july.
looking forward to: seeing harry potter, bastille day, ballet preljocaj, traveling around some
